Fair partnerships
We work with artisan clusters through transparent pricing, advance payments on bigger orders, and long-term relationships — not one-time purchases.
The Adivasi Store is a celebration of traditional hand-woven attire, crafted by indigenous artisans whose skills have travelled through stories, seasons and generations. Every piece is a quiet bridge between village looms and urban wardrobes.
The Adivasi Store began as a small initiative to document and support the textiles that shaped our childhood — shawls, gamusas, wraps and sarees that carried the warmth of festivals, harvests and everyday life. Instead of letting these weaves disappear into memory, we chose to build a space where they could be seen, treasured and fairly valued.
Every collection is sourced directly from artisan families and women’s groups. We focus on slow-made pieces: hand-spun yarns, naturally leaning colours and motifs that hold cultural meanings. Your purchase keeps looms active, skills alive and local economies a little more secure.
Our promise is simple: when you open a parcel from us, you’re not just receiving clothing — you’re receiving a lineage of hands, a rhythm of the loom, and a story that deserves to travel.
The Adivasi Store is founded by Vishal Nag, an electrical engineer from Margherita, Assam — someone who grew up surrounded by the colours, rhythms and textiles of tea-garden life and Adivasi neighbourhoods.
With a technical mind and a deep emotional connection to his roots, Vishal brings together precision, structure and community memory. The store is his way of ensuring that the designs he saw in childhood — shawls on washing lines, handwoven wraps at festivals, everyday workwear in the tea gardens — continue to have a future.
Today, the work is simple but constant: sourcing with respect, checking quality with care, and keeping the conversation open with the artisans so every order carries dignity, fair value, and a story worth wearing.
“ If a weave can carry a memory, it can also carry a future — for the artisan, for the family, and for the culture we refuse to lose.
The Adivasi Store is deeply inspired by the Tea Tribe communities of Assam — families whose histories are woven into the state’s tea estates, yet whose textiles, songs and stories often stay invisible outside the gardens. Many of the silhouettes, motifs and colour combinations you see here are rooted in their way of dressing, working and celebrating.

Rooted in traditional motifs, adapted for everyday wear — so your handwoven piece becomes a habit, not a “special occasion”.
Small curated drops over high-volume collections. It’s manageable for artisans, and genuinely special for you.
Scroll and watch how a piece moves — from yarn to loom, from finishing to packing — with small checks that protect the craft and the customer.
Designs are co-created with artisans — respecting traditional motifs while gently adapting lengths, fits and palettes to how you wear them today.
Washed, checked, finished in small batches. We keep packaging minimal — focusing on protection, not plastic.
Orders ship with clear care notes so your garment can be worn for years, repaired when needed, and passed on when you’re ready.
Behind The Adivasi Store is a tiny team handling design, packaging, technology and everyday chaos —
but the heart of this work will always be the artisan families, weavers’ collectives and communities
who trust us with their craft.
Thank you for walking this journey with us — one handwoven piece at a time.
